Love Song

Dear Sports Fans,
I wanted to let you all know of my decision to do what everyone has been telling me to do; I am going to go into the family business, which is of course, sports. The overriding reason why I have made this change? I love, have always loved and will forever love athletic competition. The spirit of athletic achievement has imbued our world with an incessant call to succeed. People, by in large, are inspired by athletes. For every Pac Man Jones, there are ten Warrick Dunn's, who runs a charity program called Homes for the Holidays where 5 single mother families are selected every year and bestowed with the first house they will ever own. But you will never hear this story. No, you will hear about Donte Stallworth, who just was indicted on vehicular manslaughter charges after hitting someone crossing the street illegally. But Stallworth had alcohol in his system. This is not what inspires people. I am in love with sports and I see a large gaping hole where I feel my father used to be. The industry is a shark infested water, badly in need of some actual genuine but also opportunisitc manuevering. The trick is to combine idealisim, practicality and self interest, hit all the bases I always say. I have decided to write what is on my mind regarding sports because, well, girls really aren't that important to me right now. I am learning Chinese, reading three books a week, planning a sports business, following all the things I follow, working out and this may sound callous, but why would I trade that to be with some sorority girl who can't construct a sentence without using the word like or talking about Gossip Girl? It is not worth it. Maybe, and this is what my friends tell me and I believe, I just have to wait to get out of Tucson because I am just not going to meet anyone I want to meet out here. I am okay with that. I enjoy having girls as friends very much. I do require more frompeople I seek to date and I just do not think it is a smart usage of time to try and fit a square peg in a round hole. So, sports are the opiate of the masses and I am as addicted as anyone. The Dodgers, Chelsea FC, UA sports, I have my teams, I have my plan, I have the background, I just need this stupid degree from UA in Creative Writing and then the world can be my oyster. I love sports, boy do I love sports.

Bam Margera or (How I Was Kicked out of the Magic Kingdom with my Dignity Intact(

We all know celebrities are special people. This statement should not shock nor should it appall any man, women or child living in these United States, in these times. Today, I met Bam Margera, an idol of mine and I was also escorted out of Disneyland. I cannot say in good conscience that my actions were justified, in fact, I would be the first to say that I behaved inappropriately. I offered Bam a cigeratte, and this was of course after I professed my love for him and while he smoked that sweet Turkish Camel Gold, I just watched him. My girlfriend, who was standing in line with me at the Jungle Cruise when it all went down looked disapprovingly on and I was as happy as a lark. I decided that the moment was intense enough to ask the man who they Bam for a picture. Again, this was all after I had told him I loved him and he, not suprisingly said no. Give me a break on the phrasing of this message because it is going to my new PO officer by the way and I know I am rambling and slightly incoherent.
Bam initally had made some crack about how funny he thought the Tour Guides on the Jungle Cruise ride were always hillarious. Bam is always hillarious is what I wanted to say. I recognized him through that signature goatee he often wears on his face. He had a girlfriend with him, not the same person who we all saw on his television show, "Viva La Bam," but Bam probably has moved on. Let us not forget that this is a guy who can get anybody he wants. This is important because it goes to the core of why I like the guy so much, why in fact, I probably like him even more than my own girlfriend, Sky. I do love Sky's name though. But the reason I love Bam so much is because he flat out does not care. He is one of those celebrities like Bret Michaels from Rock of Love who obviously has a pretty high IQ and who must have decided to no longer care what anyone else thinks and to live life on those personal terms which can only really make sense to a power wielding celebrity. So yes, I was a bit too intense with the staring, but his girlfriend didn't have to call security. I did not have to get arrested. I did not have to leave the Magical Kingdom as depressed as Eeyore, but this is what happened when I met and befriended Bam Margera all though he would most likely not call me a friend.

Who Am I?

I am Tom Friedman for the information gereration. More specifically, I am the first member of the information generation who wishes to contribute. I am a dabbler. I try evertyhing life has to offer. I do not look at life from a shared vantage point. I cannot speak for everyone because I do not support everone. I remember living next door to two guys who I wound up knowing for years. This was freshman year at UA with the setting being none other than the Coronado Domitories I had heard so much about. The two guys were from Paradise Valley, Arizona. They were always quick to point out that they were not from Phoenix. They rooted for the Suns and more or less for the Cardinals and diamondbacks, but no they were not from Phoenix. They had a sticker on their door I will never forget. "Bush/Cheney 2004!" That says it all. It was not that they were so much about Bush and Cheney as they were about whatever political beliefs and ideals held onto by their affluent and well connected parents. I joined a fraternity as I had heard about all the great connections into which I would run. But I turned out to be the best connection anyone could ask for and I have done many favors for people but had few done for me.
I am back to normal, learning Manadarin Chinese and ready to do my part in seeing the world become a better place. This is a historical turning point for not only our beloved United States, but rather, this is a world turning point. there will be a war this summer; it will either involed Pakistan-India or Israel-Iran, I hope nothing happens, but if something does that it is the former. I am Jon Steinberg, the most caring and interesting person I know.
